Scrub-a-Dub: Jewelry Cleaning 101

Scrub-a-Dub: Jewelry Cleaning 101

Posted by Andrea Magliocco on

We promote our pieces as something you can wear everyday because you truly can! That's what makes it an investment piece! We stand by the quality of our jewelry and trust that it will not tarnish, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t need a bubble bath every now and then! Build up from day to day life can happen. Remember that self-tanner you put on for a date night last week? Or maybe you went a little heavy on the perfume yesterday because you had to give a speech in class and didn’t want to fall victim to the nervous sweats! All of this creates build up on the jewelry that should be washed off. I mean you wash your hair after using a lot of hairspray so why not wash your necklace?! Check out the information below to learn how to wash your Token pieces!

14k Gold Fill and 14k Solid Gold Directions

Using a dollop of mild dish soap, water, and a toothbrush, gently scrub the piece of jewelry until you see the build up emulsifying with the soapy bubbles! Rinse off your jewelry and repeat until you have gone through the entire piece! Be sure not to scrub any jewels or pearls, simply rinse those off!

Sterling Silver Directions

You will need a small amount of baking soda, water, and a toothbrush. Get the piece of jewelry wet and sprinkle a little baking soda over the chain making sure to avoid any jewels or pearls. Using the toothbrush gently until you see the build up lifting from the jewelry. Rinse and repeat until the piece is shining bright again! Be sure not to scrub any jewels or pearls!

Between cleanings use the Polishing Cloth that can be purchased online or in our store! This will keep your jewelry shiny and remove any natural build up like sweat!

Psst: you can also always bring your jewelry in for us to clean it too! :)
